Eleanor Burnham, Welsh Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for Culture has welcomed the news that Cardiff will host several of the 2015 Rugby World Cup matches.

Commenting on the IRB's decision to award England the 2015 Rugby World Cup, Eleanor said:

"This is excellent news for Welsh rugby fans and excellent news for Wales.

"Pool matches and quarter-finals of the 2015 Rugby World Cup will be held in Wales' magnificent Millennium Stadium. The tournament will provide a massive boost to both the sport and our economy and will give Wales a chance to be centre-stage for a major sporting event.

"We know the facilities are first-class and I am sure the whole event will offer enormous opportunities for everyone involved. I hope that we will hear more good news like this for sport in Wales in the future".
