Letter to the Evening Leader - Congratulations Vernon's Butchers of Wrexham

May I congratulate Wrexham's own Vernon's Butchers in Holt on their winning the title of Top Welsh Butcher's Shop this week.

I am particularly pleased to see one of our own local, independent shops being recognised for providing good quality food for their own community at a time when large supermarkets appear to be gaining a stranglehold over local producers and local food markets.

Such independent shops offer a real hope that people in Wrexham, and indeed throughout Wales, will be able to purchase the best quality produce from Welsh farmers and producers. Therefore, I would also like to commend those involved in promoting and hosting these awards, as it is their efforts that will promote our farmers and growers in the long term.

The residents of Wrexham should be exceedingly proud of Vernon's Butchers, and give them and other local shops their full support
