Welsh Lib Dems pick Northern lights for regional list

9.31.23am GMT Thu 16th Mar 2006

Eleanor Burnham and Tudor Jones will lead the Welsh Liberal Democrats charge for double glory in North Wales at the Welsh General Election in 2007.

Eleanor and Tudor will fill the 1 and 2 slots on the regional list, following a poll of local party members. Further list places will be announced in due course.

Eleanor Burnham said: "I am delighted to have been re-selected as the candidate for North Wales. The seat is always hotly contested, and I am pleased to have emerged as the number one candidate again.

"I'm ambitious for the region and what the Welsh Liberal Democrats can do for North Wales.

"I look forward to working with Tudor, and the other North Wales candidates, to meet our objective of ensuring we have more Welsh Liberal Democrats in the next Assembly."

"We are the real alternative to Labour in Wrexham, and will be looking to build our vote across North Wales. I am confident that we can win two seats on the North Wales list."

Tudor Jones added: "People have had enough of Labour letting them down. I am looking forward to working with Eleanor, and the other candidates across Wales to build a more liberal and democratic Wales.

"Labour has failed to deliver on their promises, and people are looking for an alternative. Increasingly they are looking to the Welsh Liberal Democrats to provide that alternative."

Bobby Feely, a businesswoman from Ruthin, will take the third slot on the list. Further names will be announced in due course.
