Eleanor Burnham comments on Independently Funded News Consortia (IFNC's)

Eleanor Burnham, Welsh Lib Dem Shadow Heritage Minister said:

"This is a disappointing decision from the Culture Minister. Three months ago, the Welsh Liberal Democrats held a debate in the National Assembly showing our support for IFNC and our position has not changed. We still believe that high quality television, radio, news and current affairs are essential components of an inclusive democracy.

"While in opposition in Westminster, Jeremy Hunt was clearly adamant that he was going to scrap the IFNCs if in government. We made our representations for the pilot to go ahead in Wales and I am going to write to the Culture Minister urging him to look again at the proposals for Wales."
