North Wales AM Eleanor Burnham has called on the Heritage Minister to support calls for the North Wales Mines Rescue Station in Wrexham to be declared a listed building.
Commenting, Welsh Liberal Democrat AM Eleanor Burnham said:
"Many of Wales' older buildings are locally and culturally significant but fall into disrepair. The North Wales Mines Rescue Station is a prime example of a building that is structurally sound and yet has been marked for demolition, which is a great shame as it has the potential for future use as a heritage site.
"The Rescue Station has great significance in Welsh industrial history and played a major part in the coal-mining story of the north-east Wales coalfield. I am pleased to be lobbying the Minister to have the status and future of the building officially validated.
"The Heritage Minister has agreed to look into the matter further and to write to me. and I look forward to his response.
"I am indebted to the North Wales Miners Association Trust in Llay for their hard work in campaigning for listed status for the Rescue Station".
