Eleanor Burnham, Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for North Wales has today welcomed the Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg's push for a change of the law over banks charge.
This announcement was made after the OFT decided to drop their investigation into the fairness of bank overdraft charges.
Eleanor Burnham said "The OFT's decision was extremely disappointing and a blow for millions of bank customers. Having come so close to overhauling an unfair system of charging that penalises vulnerable groups of people, I know that the campaign to prevent unfair bank charges will not stop.
" The Liberal Democrats will continue the fight for fair bank charges in and push for a change in the law if necessary so that high street banks cannot keep ripping off their customers."
The OFT's decision follows November's Supreme Court ruling that the OFT could not use part of the unfair contract regulations to decide if bank charges were unfair.
More than a million refund claims that have been on hold since July 2007 are likely to be rejected
