"The news this week that unemployment in Wales has increased 1.6% to 9.1% makes grim reading. The public, private and voluntary sectors are all being pounded by the effects of the recession - along with people's hopes and aspirations for the future.
"I have been extremely concerned recently that job losses in the voluntary sector are having a major impact on those who are most vulnerable and at risk in North Wales. Those who are already struggling to cope are being put under even greater pressure and I put this matter to the Social Justice Minister, Brian Gibbons, in the Senedd. Whilst he acknowledges the difficulties being experienced, it is extraordinarily offensive that at the same time as local voluntary organisations are being cut to the bone, "our" banks are still doling out huge bonuses and we seem powerless to stop them.
"Such blatantly unfair practices must be scrapped if we are to achieve anything approaching equality and social justice in Wales".
