Tessa Jowell's appearance before the Welsh Affairs Committee this week has confirmed that the London 2012 Olympics will leave a gaping hole in funding for Wales.
Not only does Wales stand to lose £100 million in funding for good causes - including sport - we now learn that only four contracts have been awarded to Welsh firms to contribute to the Olympics. The total value of those contracts is less than £100,000.
Small and medium enterprises already face immense problems with the "bundling" of procurement contracts and it is extremely disappointing that the Welsh Assembly Government has been so ineffective in fighting Wales' corner in these matters.
Just as I did in 2008 I shall be giving Welsh athletes my wholehearted support for London 2012, but I have serious fears for the future of sport and business in Wales under this current regime.
