Like many others I'm sure, I was very disappointed to read the Deputy First Minister's rejection of calls to make the A55 in my region safer despite pressure from politicians, police and relatives of those killed and injured on this road.
Both myself and the Liberal Democrats have been supporting the many voices calling for safety improvements to this busy highway for some time now, indeed it was discussed at our Party's Spring Conference only last February where we supported calls for more rest areas for drivers to stop and rest.
It is clear that investment in safety measures to safeguard users of the A55 needs to be a priority for the Welsh Assembly Government despite Ieuan Wynn Jones' dismissal on cost grounds.
It is time the Transport Minister put lives before rail subsidies for train operators if money is the real issue here.
