Welsh Liberal Democrat Eleanor Burnham has urged the First Minister and the Assembly Government to reinforce their commitment to Further Education colleges in North Wales.
Speaking at First Minister's Questions ahead of the "Skills that Work for Wales" debate in the Senedd, Ms. Burnham asked the First Minister to ensure that in future FE Colleges are properly funded.
Ms. Burnham, AM for North Wales comments, "The uncertainty and instability currently endured by FE colleges is intolerable. Even colleges that receive "outstanding" and "excellent" grades from Estyn inspections are finding themselves under threat. Look at what happened to Yale in the summer.
"I find it astonishing that instead of encouraging students and staff in FE institutions, this Government continues to take the view that colleges should function in perpetually restrictive instability.
"It is to the eternal credit of FE colleges that they continue to do well, and I and my colleagues in the Welsh Liberal Democrats will continue to champion their endeavours".
