Out and about with the Scouts in the Senedd.

Eleanor Burnham, Welsh Liberal Democrat spokesperson on Children and Young people, today hosted the Welsh Scout Council in the Senedd to showcase their work to Assembly Members and the general public. Following the organisation's 100th anniversary, the Scouts demonstrated some of their activities and displayed some of their new skills and techniques being taught to young boys and girls of all ages, faiths and cultures across Wales.
Ms Burnham said:
"I am absolutely delighted to have welcomed so many Scouts and their dedicated volunteers to their National Assembly.
"The work of the Welsh Scout Council is important in encouraging creativity and developing skills that are vital for young people to become responsible adults in society. Their exhibition today demonstrated the many skills they acquire from this organisation.
"I was particularly pleased to see the Scouts promoting healthy living through outdoor activities and healthy eating, especially in a time when many young people eat junk food and watch television or play computer games all day.
"The Scout movement is a modern and multi-cultural organisation promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Girls and boys from all faiths and cultures were proudly showing me what they do best as a 21st century organisation.
"I would like to thank the Scouts for making this exhibition a success and for showing me how to safely prepare a healthy fruit cocktail!"
