Dylai o leiaf 50% o'r bwyd sydd ar gael mewn ysbytai, ysgolion a swyddfeydd cyngor Cymru gael ei ffynonellu o Gymru. Dyna'r neges heddiw oddi wrth Eleanor Burnham AC, wrth iddi hyrwyddo bwyd lleol yn yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol.

Mae Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol Cymru eisiau o leiaf hanner y bwyd sy'n cael ei brynu at ddibenion cyhoeddus ddod o Gymru erbyn 2015. Mae Mrs Burnham yn dweud y buasai gwneud y broses o wneud cynigion am gytundebau cyhoeddus yn haws i fentrau bach lleol yn sicrhau diwydiant bwyd ffyniannus yng Nghymru a dewisiadau iach a blasus mewn ysgolion ac ysbytai.

Dywedodd Mrs Burnham, AC dros Ogledd Cymru:

"Mae gan Gymru enw da cynyddol am fwyd maethlon o ansawdd dda. Ond yn rhy aml o lawer, nid yw'r bwyd hynny ar gael mewn lleoedd lle bo'r bwyd yn cael ei brynu â chyllid cyhoeddus.

"Mae sicrhau y caiff bwyd eu brynu'n lleol yn dda i'r amgylchedd ac yn dda i'r economi. Mae'n lleihau'r ôl-troed carbon ac mae'n creu swyddi ar gyfer pobl leol.

"Buasai ei gwneud hi'n haws i fusnesau lleol i wneud ceisiadau am, ac ennill cytundebau cyhoeddus, yn rhoi hwb enfawr i'n diwydiant bwyd. Mae mesurau megis gwneud hysbysebiadau sydd wedi'u lleoli'n well, cytundebau haws eu deall, sgiliau ac amodau gwyrdd a gweithdrefnau rhag-gymhwyso oll o gymorth. Buasai targed ar gyfer 2015 yn dangos bwriad y llywodraeth a sicrhau y buasai pawb yn gwybod at beth yr oeddem yn ei anelu.

"At y dyfodol, gall cymorth, yn hytrach na chymorthdaliadau fod yn sylfaen perthynas y llywodraeth â'r diwydiant bwyd. Bydd yn annog ein ffermwyr i ymgyfannu a chyflenwi bwyd a diodydd Chymreig i'n hysgolion a'n gwasanaethau cyhoeddus.

"Mae llwyddiant marchnadoedd ffermwyr a chynnyrch megis T? Nant, caws Cymreig, Cig Oen a Rachel's Dairy yn dangos bod gennym rhai o'r bwydydd gorau yn y byd."

At least 50% of food available in Welsh hospitals, schools and council offices should be sourced from Wales. That's the message today from Eleanor Burnham AM, as she promoted local food at the National Eisteddfod.

The Welsh Liberal Democrats want a target of at least half of publicly procured to be sourced from Wales by 2015. Mrs Burnham says that making the public contract bidding process easier for small local enterprises would ensure a booming food industry in Wales and healthy and tasty options in schools and hospitals.

Mrs Burnham, AM for North Wales said:

"Wales has a growing reputation for nutritious high-quality food. But too often that food is not available in places where food is bought out of the public purse.

"Ensuring that food is procured locally is good for the environment and good for the economy. It reduces the carbon footprint and creates jobs for local people.

"Making it easier for local business to apply for, and win, public contracts would give our food industry a huge boost. Measures such as better placed advertising, easier to understand contracts, skills and green conditions and easier pre-qualification procedures would all help. A target for 2015 would demonstrate the government's intention and ensure that everyone know what we were aiming for.

"Help, instead of handouts, can be the future for the government's relationship with the food industry. It will encourage our farmers and producers to get in on the act and supply schools and public services with Welsh food and drink.

"The success of farmers' markets and products such as Ty Nant, Welsh cheese, Lamb and Rachel's Dairy shows that we have some of the best food in the world."
