Eleanor Burnham AM has welcomed a study proposing multi-million pound improvements on the Chester-Wrexham-Shrewsbury line which could bring vast improvements to North East Wales. The prospect of a "dynamic" loop system could even see Rossett station re-opened as a park-and-ride gateway for shoppers into Wrexham.
Ms Burnham, Welsh Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for North Wales and a Rossett resident, said: "This new study is a positive indicator of what many people have been saying for years - that Rossett station should be brought back into use and that the Chester-Wrexham-Shrewsbury line would be of far better use if it was doubled or looped.
"Many people will know I take a keen interest in improving the rail services in and around my region and I have campaigned for the line in the area to be doubled for some time now, in order to improve its capacity and social inclusion in the North East.
"Rossett would be extremely valuable as a park-and-ride facility for shoppers, with Chester to the North and Wrexham to the South. I hope that the evidence in this study will bring that idea to the fore.
"I look forward to seeing the results of the study once it has been considered by the members involved in the Chester-Shrewsbury Rail partnership."
