Dear Sir,
I can hardly believe the audacity of yet another empty Labour budget. Gordon Brown's latest instalment in the ten-year saga is like an early Easter egg gift for Wales - attractive on the outside, but hollow on the inside.
The cuts in Income Tax and Corporation Tax may bring a brief smile to the face of the nation, but we cannot be fooled into forgetting that these cuts will have to be made up elsewhere.
Sadly, this budget shows that Wales still doesn't have the stable funding guarantee it needs for a fairer, greener future. The age-old Barnett formula has been looking tired for years, just like the flares that were in fashion when it first appeared, but Labour have stuck with it for their ten years in government.
I believe that people in North Wales are getting tired of Wales being pushed to the bottom of the budgets pile. If Gordon Brown's budget tells us one thing, it is that the Barnett formula is out of date and so are the Labour government who insist on sticking with it.
