Eleanor Burnham AM today slammed Transport Minister Andrew Davies on the continuing complaints from constituents over North - South rail services during the government's response to a new rail report.
Ms Burnham, Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for North Wales and prominent member of the Rail Infrastructure Committee who compiled the report, took the Minister to task over the ongoing trails of passengers attempting to travel across the country to and from North Wales.
Ms Burnham said: "The latest proposal by Mr Davies is to consider introducing a business class service for these lines, but what I'd like to see is simple - clean, efficient, regular trains between North and South Wales.
"It's not an issue of papering over cracks in the service provision, but just addressing the most basic points of rail travel for the passengers that use the trains every day.
Mr Davies countered Ms Burnham's criticism with the claim that "significant progress" had been made on the North - South services, to which she replied, "I am fed up of hearing the complacency of this Government where North Wales is concerned. I was on the Wrexham platform at 6am this morning and I can tell you that even at that hour I was approached by yet more passengers who are unhappy with their regular rail service.
"'Significant progress' is not a real answer to these people's concerns."
