Commenting on shocking new dentistry statistics that reveal the dental service decay in North Wales, Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member Eleanor Burnham said,
"I am astounded that almost 1 in 3 adults in North Wales are not registered with a dentist. The situation is not much better in rest of Wales either. Most concerning are the levels of children not registered with a dentist. In South East Wales 60.8% of children are registered with a dentist while in North Wales only 53.8% are. Unless we take swift action we are storing up massive problems for the future.
Mrs Burnham, Assembly Member for North Wales went on to say,
"These statistics show that North Wales has the lowest percentage of adults and children registered with a dentist. The Government is supposed to be taking more preventative action in health. It is clearly failing to do so. I will write to the Health Minister Brian Gibbons about this issue."
