TRAVOLTA TRIBUTE FOR CULTURE MINISTER

Culture Minister Alun Pugh received a rare compliment from his Lib Dem shadow Eleanor Burnham today - for dressing like film star John Travolta. Mr Pugh gave a statement on culture policy today, dressed in a striking white suit, black shirt and tie and black shoes. Ms Burnham said: ``I would like to commend you on your Saturday Night Fever attire,'' before quizzing the minister on culture issues.

Mr Pugh replied: ``I don't know about Saturday Night Fever, but staying alive in the health sense and in the wider cultural sense is an important feature of Assembly Government policy.'' But his appearance was not commented on by Presiding Officer Lord Elis-Thomas, who rebuked Liberal Democrat Mick Bates for appearing in the chamber dressed as Father Christmas in 2002.
